"X-Spike" Awl/Tool

$125.00

This is a really simple, useful tool that I based on something that was allegedly carried by a man by the name of “Johannes Happe” during WW2. “Happe” was a member of X Troop which would later inspire Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”.

There are people that think “Happe” was a pseudonym and some that think he didn’t exist at all. But the story goes that he was an Alsatian man, short in stature that would sometimes impersonate Germans during missions. He was multilingual and liked spikes for their ability to deliver thrusts to the subclavian artery. The tool this was based on was part of author Leroy Thompsons collection before being sold.

In using this tool over the past year or so, I’ve found it to be an extremely useful everyday carry item. I also use it frequently on the leather workbench.

-Made of hardened and heat treated O1 tool steel
-Approximately 5” in length overall
-Comes with brown leather sheath that has a grommet for use on your choice of cordage for use around neck, or on a ring.
-Comes in a brushed finish and will be waxed. However it WILL rust over time if you do not keep it clean.
